HomePointe - Where do I start?

by Scott Allen on March 16, 2010

As with anything that's new, you want to know what to do first - right?  Well, here are four steps you can immediately take to become more intentional with your faith:

1. Complete an Appraisal - Your very first step evaluates your faith
intentionality
over the past four months.  You can view and print an Appraisal by clicking here or stop by the HomePointe Center at Christ Community.

2. Make a Plan -  In light of your personal Appraisal, make a plan!  Use the Plans to commit to 1 or 2 spiritual growth goals over the next 120 days.  Click here to view and print a Plan or you can find Plans in the HomePointe Center.

3. Identify your Lifestage - HomePointe Pointers currently identify 28 different lifestages and special circumstances.  Each Pointer offers a biblical reflection on your lifestage, any At Home resources such as books and websites, and At Church resources.  If Christ Community offers any classes, seminars, small groups or unique resources on your lifestage, it will be listed on the Pointer in this section. Pointers make a great resource to customize your Plan. Pointers can also be found both here and in the HomePointe Center.

4. Discover Resources - One of the main purposes of HomePointe is to consolidate and present recommended resources.  These staff-suggested resources are generally books, websites, Recipe Cards, creative ideas, classes and seminars designed to help you live a life of intentionality.

HomePointe - Living it out

by Scott Allen on March 15, 2010

Yesterday I continued our launch of the HomePointe ministry model here at Christ Community by focusing on a command to all believers: make every effort!

2 Peter 1:5 starts out by saying, For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith... (TNIV)  It's strong language directed at Christ-followers.  Can we float in the Christian life? Yes…but it is not advisable.

This passage reminds us that these 7 characteristics actually represent the nature of God.  Since His nature is now in us (2 Corinthians 5:17), you simply need to let the real you come out.  There is also a reward promised to us for intentionally moving in this direction (2 Peter 1:11).  With that in mind, the goal of implementing HomePointe, is not HomePointe itself, but to fulfill the focus of this passage: living out our faith

Recent studies indicate that many of us attend church, but then essentially disconnect our faith the other 6 1/2 days of the week.  But the very reason we gather on Sunday mornings, in our small groups and participate in individual ministries, is to equip us for the rest of life. HomePointe offers tools that encourage and equip us to move upward on the spiritual ladder of growth.

If HomePointe is a new concept to you, begin by completing an Appraisal.  You can either download one here online, or you'll find Appraisals in our HomePointe Center at CCC.  Next, in light of your personal evaluation of your intentionality over the past 120 days, use a HomePointe Plan to initiate some changes over the next four months.

HomePointe, then, is simply a tool that invites all of us to live out our faith in the most important place, away from church and in your home.
